About NitroVision Garage

Cars are the activity. Community, confidence and connection are the outcome.

NitroVision Garage is a Today Matters program that uses automotive projects as a practical environment where participants develop real skills, build confidence, form genuine relationships and experience a sense of achievement that carries into every part of their lives.

We know that not everyone connects through conversation alone. For many people, connection happens side by side — over an engine, a set of tools and a shared project. Whether you're 18 or 80, NitroVision Garage is built for you.

Mental Health Through Practical Projects

How the Program Works

Structured sessions blend hands-on automotive work with embedded mental health support — no couch required.

01

Join a Session

Drop in or register for a weekly session at the Nitro Garage. No experience needed — just show up.

02

Work on Real Projects

Get hands-on with real vehicles. Learn practical skills, build confidence, and find your rhythm in the garage.

03

Connect With Support

Counsellors and peer workers are present throughout — available for a chat whenever you're ready, no pressure.

04

Build Your Community

Form genuine bonds with other participants. Many describe Nitro Garage as the first place they've truly felt understood.

Why It Works

The Power of Doing Something Together

Reduces Isolation

Regular group sessions create routine, belonging, and a reason to show up — powerful antidotes to loneliness.

Builds Confidence

Completing a real project — fixing an engine, restoring bodywork — delivers genuine pride and self-efficacy.

Low-Barrier Entry

No referral needed. No waiting list. No clinical setting. Just come as you are.

Peer Connection

Shared experience creates trust. Participants support each other in ways that formal services often can't replicate.

Embedded Counselling

Qualified counsellors are on-site every session — available for one-on-one support when participants are ready.

NDIS Friendly

Nitro Garage sessions can be funded through NDIS plans under Community Participation and Capacity Building.

Community

You Don't Have to Fix Things Alone

The garage is a place where blokes can be blokes — and still get the support they need. No labels, no pressure, no judgement. Just people showing up for each other.

Participant Stories

Real People, Real Change

"I hadn't left the house in months. My mate dragged me along and I didn't want to be there. By the end of the first session I was laughing for the first time in a year."

J
James, 34

"I'm not a 'talk about my feelings' kind of person. But working on the car with the guys — something just opened up. I started talking without even realising it."

M
Marcus, 28
Nitro Garage participant

"My son came home from his first session and said 'Mum, I actually feel okay today.' That was the first time he'd said that in two years."

Racing 4 Significance Foundation

Racing 4 Significance (R4S) is a private non-profit community service organisation that has been using the excitement of drag racing to deliver a powerful message to teenagers since 2017 — race on the strip, be safe on the street.

The program is delivered free of charge by bringing the NitroVision Garage dragster directly into schools and community events. All profits from NitroVision Garage support R4S's ongoing non-profit activities in the community.
